Long before the revolution as an expensive “luxury brand” established, the once wide range of this brand has shrunk to just 2 formats. This Hermoso is relatively cheap today, offers approx. 50 - 65 minutes smoking time but highest quality. One of the hottest insider tips from Cuba! The classification as “strong” is a bit questionable, the Habano is rather medium strong.
Flavours
An incredibly complex and flavorful cigar with a surprising amount of variety for the handy format. The enchanting blossom and caramel sweetness of the opening never quite disappears from the creamy smoke, but progressively gives way to darker, spicier umami notes – Coffee beans, gentleman's chocolate, essential herbs, cinnamon and cedarwood. It is reminiscent of many other brands in turn, without being alike – Friends of Trinidad or Cuaba will feel just as comfortable with it as those from Vegas Robaina or even Cohiba. A gem!

Nachdem in der Manufaktur Antonio Allones im Jahre 1882 bereits seit 30 Jahren Zigarren gefertigt wurden, traf man dort die Entscheidung, eine neue Marke von erstklassiger Qualität und zu hohen Preisen auf den Markt zu bringen. Mit großem Vertrauen und wenig Bescheidenheit wurde sie El Rey del Mundo - Der König der Welt - genannt und wurde ein voller Erfolg. Damals gehörten diese Zigarren zu den teuersten der Welt. Das Standard-Sortiment besteht heute aus zwei Formaten, die berühmt sind für ihren leichten bis mittelkräftigen Geschmack und ihre Beständigkeit.

The term Boveda comes from the Spanish and means vaulted cellar. It is a proprietary humidity control product that has been specially developed for use in cigar cases, countertop and travel humidors. Each Humipak contains a saturated salt and water solution protected by a bi-directional permeable membrane. The Boveda Humipaks offer the user the advantage that he no longer has to remember to top up the humidor's water reservoir, as he simply replaces the corresponding number of Boveda Paks in the humidor every 2 - 3 months. The Humipaks are designed to release treated moisture into the humidor, thus minimising the risk of bacteria, mould or fungi developing in the humidor. They also have the advantage over other humidification systems that they minimise fluctuations in the moisture balance, allowing cigars to mature perfectly. The constant moisture balance preserves the natural oils and sugar components of the cigars, giving them the opportunity to improve with age.
Xikar präsentierte auf der diesjährigen IPCPR – Messe einen neuen Cutter, den Enso. Der Enso ist ein Zigarrenabschneider mit doppelter Guillotine, dessen Name aus der japanischen Kultur stammt. Der Cutter symbolisiert einen minimalistischen Kreis, der in einem Augenblick der Klarheit des Geistes auf einen Schlag gezeichnet wird. Beim der Enso – Serie von Xikar wird ein synchronisiertes Doppelklingensystem verwendet, bei dem durch die Bewegung eines Griffs beide Klingen bewegt werden. Die Cutter Serie ist eine Art Nachfolger des 2016 vorgestellten XO Cutters. Das neue Modell ist wesentlich dünner und passt somit leichter in die Tasche. Das Loch des Messers ist eine 68er Ringlehre, die nach Firmenangaben Zigarren bis zu einem 72er Ringmaß schneidet. Die Enso – Serie wird in sechs Ausführungen erhältlich sein: Schwarz, Silber, Rot, Blau, Neonorange und Neongrün.

The Cuban marketing organisation Habanos S.A. develops new and limited leather case editions at regular intervals. The Montecristo 6 cigar case safely preserves all the flavours of the cigars. The black upper part of the case, which can be easily removed from the black lower part, features the 24-carat gold-plated logo. The emblem with the six crossed swords around the lily in the centre of the triangle adorns the square case like a brooch. You can store 6 cigars with a length of up to 15 cm and a diameter of up to 1.5 cm in the collapsed case - when pulled out, even cigars with a length of up to 20 cm can fit in it.
