Buy cigars by Bolivar
The Venezuelan independence fighter Simón Bolívar was one of the great historical figures of the 19th century. He liberated large parts of South America from Spanish colonial rule. The Bolívar brand named after him was launched in 1902 and is now manufactured at the Partagás factory in the heart of Havana. It is hardly surprising that a Habano bearing the name of such an impressive personality should also be blended in such a way that this is expressed in the taste. Bolívar is among the strongest and most aromatic of all Habanos. It boasts an unmatched richness in its blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco growing zone. This makes it one of the most sought-after brands among experienced smokers. All formats are totalmente a mano, tripa larga - completely handmade longfillers. The brand is something for savvy cigar smokers who prefer a strong flavor.

Worth knowing
The name „Belicoso“ (engl. „belligerent“) already refers to the rustic strength of this format, which is also called „Campagna“ (engl. „bell“). The BBF was already made in pre-revolutionary times; it is one of the great classics among Habanos and, for many experienced aficionados, is one of the most convincing Habanos of all.
Aroma
The unmistakable ätheric bolívar citrus notes combine here with a particularly creamy smoke consistency. Next to the „Libertador“, the Belicoso is certainly the most complex cigar of the brand in terms of flavour. Nut, cocoa and coffee flavours alternate, underlined by fine woody notes and clear honey. Despite its considerable strength, a very elegant smoke, whose full-bodiedness increases to a particular extent in the last third. Usually rolled rather tightly, it nevertheless offers a good draw and üppige smoke development. The usual smoking time is about 70-85 minutes.

Things to know
The trade name of this cigar, which was introduced about 50 years ago, is misleading in that it is not a Corona, but has the dimensions of a conventional Robusto. The smoking properties of the very popular product also correspond to this. Temporarily, the same Habano was formerly known as “Prince Charles” offered in cabinet boxes of 50.
Aroma
This Bolívar feels a little lighter and milder than its sisters, although it gains strength and body as the smoke progresses. In return, it offers all the more honey sweetness and creaminess alongside complex wood and roasted aromas. A particularly balanced, harmonious and charming cigar, certainly less demanding for beginners than e.g. B. the Belicoso - nevertheless still above average strong. On average, the RC is relatively loosely rolled, so that it draws flawlessly and has a large volume of smoke. You can enjoy them for about an hour, sometimes longer.

Worth knowing
The smallest Bolívar cigar comes in the handy, classic „Minuto“ format, for which particularly high-quality blends are often used. It, too, can look back on a long, uninterrupted manufacturing tradition. Like all Habanos of this brand, it is rather strong; nevertheless, it offers the ideal introduction to the world of Bolívar.
Aroma
The fruity-sour heart note typical of the brand is integrated here into a particularly concentrated, nobly tart world of aromas. Furthermore, the smoke enjoyment lives from nice spicy, leathery-woody notes, with discreet sweetness. It is a Habano for fans of traditional, hearty tobacco blends, yet varied and multifaceted. The smoking volume of this small cigar is amazing, and despite a relatively light draw, it lasts for over 30 minutes, or 40 minutes if smoked slowly.

Worth knowing
The Corona small format „Mareva“ has also long been represented in the portfolio of the traditional brand Bolívar, although no longer – as it used to be – in the cabinet (box with sliding lid). In the last century, the Vítola „Petit Corona“ usually referred to machine production, while the name „Mareva“ was used for hand-rolled premium cigars of the same format. However, this Habano has always been a handmade long filler of excellent quality.
Aroma
The second smallest Bolívar presents itself a little more powerful and earthy than its smaller sister. Overall, however, it stands between this and the larger formats in terms of taste with its more pronounced sweetness and opulence; the creamy smoke texture suggests a larger ring gauge. The citrus character of the main Bolívar blend comes through particularly well. It is somewhat reminiscent of the Lang Coronas of yesteryear and is remarkably productive due to a finely balanced rolling and impeccable smoking properties. 45 minutes are always possible, slow smokers sometimes reach more than 1 hour.

Worth knowing
The no. 1 of this Tubos series is unfortunately history, as is No. 3 is now being phased out. With the no. 2 remains a Mareva, which is exactly the same format as the Petit Coronas owns. However, it is by no means the same blend! The tubos no. 2 was produced from before the revolution; like all other tubos, their 2009 got an attractive new face with a dark red base colour.
Aroma
This format is one of the strongest Habanos and is primarily aimed at experienced smokers. With her, earthy, leathery and woody flavor components predominate; the typical fruit notes and a slight sweetness are definitely present. The play of aromas is characterized above all by great intensity, especially in the last third. A spicy, expressive, old-fashioned Habano in the best sense of the word, sustainable and productive – Usual smoking time over 50 minutes.

Worth knowing
This pencil-thin cig in the exotic format „Placeras“ may only be available for a limited time! In this case, too, a long tradition of uninterrupted production would come to an end. Perhaps this is the last opportunity to convince yourself of the high quality of the smallest Bolívar that is only available in a tubo. Get your hands on it in time, it's worth it!
Aroma
The inconspicuous ¨ußere of the small cigar täuscht – here is something huge in it. This blend is really strong – even stronger than the No. 2 -, and of expressive, powerful, noble aromatics. Fine sparkling acidity, only a little sweetness, but lots of pleasant woody tannins next to rather untypical peat and cocoa notes complement each other in a captivating, but at first pleasing way for more than 30, rather more than 40 minutes. A spicy pleasure with a rustic finish!
