Cigars by Hoyo de Monterrey

José Gener, a Spanish immigrant from Tarragona, had the right nose in 1860! He was one of those who recognized the unique quality of the tobacco leaves around the small town of San Luis y Martínez in the privileged vegetation of the now protected origin growing region of Vuelta Abajo. The filler and wrapper leaves appealed to him for his brand Hoyo de Monterrey, named after the depression where the plantations extend to the banks of the river San Juan y Martínez - the Monterrey depression. The pioneer Gener not only named the whole plantation Hoyo de Monterrey, but also, from 1865, his best brand of habano, which still exists today. The plantation, with its administrative buildings and manufactory, is located in the middle of the tobacco town of San Luis y Martínez - it is one of the few Vegas de Primera where only the best leaves grow, some of which are also used for cohibas. The entrance to the plantation is decorated by an imposing gate with the inscription "Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener. 1860“. It has made a name for itself around the world, especially among lovers of Habanos who prefer a light taste while demanding high aroma and complexity. With its fine blend, it is equally popular with discerning beginners.
