Sancho Panza is the faithful squire of the traveling knight Don Quixote in the novel of the same name by Miguel de Cervantes, who is revered as a national poet in Spain. The first part was published in 1605 and is still considered one of the best books in world literature. The name Sancho Panza was first used to describe a Habano in 1848 and the brand has enjoyed an excellent reputation among experienced aficionados ever since. The brand was founded by a German named Emil Ohmstedt, who is also said to have been the birthmother of the El Rey del Mundo brand. In the 1950s, Sancho Panza was one of the most popular Habanos brands in Spain. To this day, the cigars are said to have great aging potential. Today, the range includes only two cigars. With their medium-bodied blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco growing zone, all formats are totalmente a mano, tripa larga - completely handmade long fillers.
