The „Epicure“series is one of HdM's classics. Previously quite „naked“, these cigars have even proudly worn 2 anillas since 2008. The „No. 1“ in the timelessly beautiful „Corona Gorda“ format, which aficionados hold in very high regard, is probably the strongest „Epi“. It burns for about 70 – 90 minutes.
Aromas
HdM in highly concentrated form! Like many Coronas Gordas, this one is quite an intense treat - not so much in terms of strength (it never exceeds the medium range) but in terms of intensity, being one of the hoyos with the fullest body. The classic brand aromas are easy to taste, but everything seems a little darker and deeper here: mocha rather than latte, more tropical than cedar wood, spice instead of white bread come to mind as associations. Typical of HdM, however, are the clear sweetness and the slightly Cohiba-like hay note.

Hoyo De Monterrey
José Gener, ein spanischer Einwanderer aus Tarragona, hatte 1860 den richtigen Riecher! Er war einer derjenigen, die die einzigartige Qualität der Tabakblätter um den kleinen Ort San Luis y Martínez in der privilegierten Vegetation des heute herkunftgeschützten Anbaugebiets Vuelta Abajo erkannten. Die Einlage- und Umlageblätter hatten es ihm angetan für seine Marke Hoyo de Monterrey, benannt nach der Senke, auf der sich die Plantagen bis an die Ufer des Flusses San Juan y Martínez erstrecken – der Senke von Monterrey. Der Pionier Gener nannte nicht nur die ganze Plantage Hoyo de Monterrey, sondern ab 1865 auch seine beste Habanomarke, die bis heute existiert. Die Plantage mit den Verwaltungsgebäuden und der Manufaktur ist mitten im Tabakort San Luis y Martínez angesiedelt – sie ist eine der wenigen Vegas de Primera, wo nur die besten Blätter wachsen, die zum Teil auch für die Cohibas verwendet werden. Die Einfahrt auf die Plantage schmückt ein imposantes Tor mit der Inschrift „Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener. 1860“. Vor allem bei Liebhabern von Habanos, die einen leichten Geschmack bevorzugen und gleichzeitig hohe Ansprüche an Aroma und Komplexität stellen, hat sie sich weltweit einen Namen gemacht. Mit ihrer feinen Mischung ist sie gleichermaßen beliebt bei anspruchsvollen Beginnern.

When the wrapper is loosened:
- Shake the bottle vigorously
- Lift the cover sheet slightly and spread a little PerfecRepair on it.
- Put the cover sheet back and carefully brush it back to its original position.

What you need to know
The Montecristo brand is one of the young cigar brands from Cuba. For aficionados of this young Cuban cigar brand, there are of course also suitable solutions. The Cuban marketing organisation Habanos S.A. develops new and limited leather case editions at regular intervals. Over the years, the various models have been developed, most of them in cocnag brown and black. All cases are made from genuine leather.
Details
The Montecristo 6 cigar case safely preserves all the flavours of the cigars. The black upper part of the case, which can be easily removed from the black lower part, features the 24-carat gold-plated logo. The emblem with the six crossed swords around the lily in the centre of the triangle adorns the square case like a brooch. You can store 6 cigars with a length of up to 15 cm and a diameter of up to 1.5 cm in the collapsed case - when pulled out, even cigars with a length of up to 20 cm can fit in it.
The name Boveda comes from the Spanish and translates into German as vaulted cellar. It is a patented product for humidity control that has been specially developed for use in cigar cases, countertop and travelling humidors. Each Humipak contains a saturated solution of natural salts and pure water, protected by a bi-directional permeable membrane. With the Boveda Humipaks, you no longer have to remember to top up the water reservoir in your humidor, as you simply have to replace the corresponding number of Boveda Paks in the humidor every 2 - 3 months. The Humipaks release treated moisture and significantly reduce the risk of bacteria, mould or fungi developing in the humidor compared to other humidification systems. The Humipaks also prevent fluctuations in the moisture balance, allowing the cigars to mature perfectly. The constant moisture balance preserves the natural oils and sucrose, allowing cigars to improve with age.
