As a fan of great Coronas, it is almost with dismay that one realises that only 3 „Julietas No. 2“ („Churchills“) still appear in the regular Habanos range: the one from RyJ, the Cohiba „Espléndidos“ – and this ingenious HU, arguably the Churchill with the best PLV!
Flavours
This impressive large;calibre is a star hour of cigar craftsmanship. For about 2 hours, it offers the aficionado an adventure through the variety of flavours of premium Cuban tobacco. The start is typically rather gentle, sweet, cedary, with playful spicy aromas (cinnamon). Then the unmistakable oak notes of great Upmanns emerge with great intensity, surrounded by a fine leather scent. Fresh brown bread crust, the sweetness and noble bitterness of walnuts and hazelnuts, towards the end mocha or espresso crema with a tingling earthy impression, all this with a steadily increasing strength – all the magic of Cuba in one cigar!

Eine exzellente mittelkräftige Zigarre
Mich überzeugt diese Zigarre durch ihre präzise und einwandfreie Verarbeitung. Der Abbrand ist durchaus gut, ebenso wie der Zugwiderstand.Erstes Drittel: würzig, milde Ledernote, feine Erd- und Holzaromen, leicht cremig und dezente Süße. Zweites Drittel: würzig mit feiner Ledernote, Holzaromen, feine Erdaromen, gerösteten Nüssen, leicht cremig und milde Süße. Letztes Drittel: wird etwas stärker, würzig mit feiner Ledernote, Holzaromen, Erdaromen, gerösteten Nüssen, Röstaromen, leicht cremig und dezente Süße.

Herausragende Habanos der alten Schule
Als eines der 3 letzten kubanischen Churchill-Formate ist die HU SW ein liebenswerter Dino der Zigarrenwelt. Ein komplexer, tiefgründiger Smoke mit formattypisch spannendem Rauchverlauf. Während die meisten HUs von Honigsüße, Heuduft & eher 'hellen' Nussaromen bestimmt sind, dominieren hier 'dunkle' Röst-, Nuss-, Erd- & Kakaonoten. Bedächtigt geraucht, ein Smoke von über 2 Stunden. Vorsicht Einsteiger, hier ist nix mit 'leicht - mittel' - die SW ist eine eher starke Zigarre, v.a. frisch.

H. Upmann
Hermann Upmann war ein Bankier aus Deutschland, der kubanische Zigarren so sehr liebte, dass er 1844 nach Havanna umsiedelte, wo er fortan als Bankier und Zigarrenhersteller tätig war. Seine Bank musste kurz nach 1920 geschlossen werden, aber seine Zigarren leben als exzellentes Beispiel für eine Habano von leichtem bis mittelkräftigem Geschmack weiter. Garant für den Erfolg Upmanns war sein Bestreben, ausschließlich erstklassige Qualität zu liefern. Die H.Upmann -Habanos waren bekannt für ihre Verpackung in edlen Kisten aus dem Holz spanischer Zedern zusammen mit einer Garantieerklärung und der Unterschrift Hermann Upmanns – die Produktion fand und findet in Havanna statt.

The term Boveda comes from the Spanish and means vaulted cellar. It is a proprietary humidity control product that has been specially developed for use in cigar cases, countertop and travelling humidors. Each Humipak contains a saturated salt and water solution protected by a bi-directional permeable membrane. The Boveda Humipaks offer the user the advantage that he no longer has to remember to top up the humidor's water reservoir, as he simply replaces the corresponding number of Boveda Paks in the humidor every 2 - 3 months. The Humipaks are designed to release treated moisture into the humidor, thus minimising the risk of bacteria, mould or fungi developing in the humidor. They also have the advantage over other humidification systems that they minimise fluctuations in the moisture balance, allowing cigars to mature perfectly.
